I joined a book club two months ago. It's been a lot of fun. Since I joined we have read "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen and "The Prize Winner of Defience Ohio" by Terry Ryan.
I quite enjoyed both of these books. I read Pride and Prejuside way back in my first year of University... that brought back some memories... I must say I enjoyed it more the second time.
I also picked up "I am Hutterite" by Mary Ann Kirkby. I really enjoyed that book and feel that I gained more an understanding of the culture. Working rural Alberta I have had the oppourtunity to meet several Hutterites.
All three of these books I would reccomend. I will keep an updated list of the books we are reading and have read if you are looking for a good read.

Cali Counting
This is just a cute video of Cali counting. I have a feeling that seventeen is her favourite number...
Cali and Uncle Steve
Last Wednesday Steve and his friend Sandy flew out from Scotland. This is Steve's first time to Alberta since he moved to Scotland three years ago and Sandy's first ever. Hence this was Steve and Cali's first encounter with each other.
Cali and Steve got along great! Cali warmed up right away and very excited to meet both him and Sandy. I had never seen her with so much energy as she had at the airport. We went out to eat Vietnamese after the airport; Cali was jumping on the chairs and basically making a mess. Once we got home Uncle Steve read her stories. Cali loves listening to stories and Uncle Steve loves to read! A perfect match! Then Sandy and Steve were served a meal of plastic pizza and apples from Cali's kitchen; a sign of acceptance from our little girl.
The next day we went to Banff and Lake Louise because Sandy had never seen the Rocky Mountains. All in all we had a great visit and look forward to meeting up with them Nova Scotia in a week.

Happy Father's Day
This is a little shout out to the best fathers I know; Dad and Ed. You both have been there for me as I have needed you. Thank you Dad for setting a great example of a father so that when it came time for me to choose the father of my children I chose well. Thank you Ed for living up to my high expectations of a father... thank you for meeting them as well as exceeding them. I love you both so much!

Our Little Anouncement
You are all right, Ed and I haven't announced our upcoming edition to the family. Since I have been working in the ER I have seen so many miscarriages and complications that I didn't want to make it official until I knew that the the ultrasound was okay.
So good news the ultrasound was fine and we found out that I am blessed enough to have another baby girl to call my own. Now I will have twenty toes to paint, and lots of hair to braid, and shopping... we are going to have so much fun shopping!
I was thoroughly convinced up until Monday that we having boy. I had even purchased some little boy clothes. I figured it was time someone in the family had a boy... but I was wrong! That will be six granddaughters for Ed's Mom... no boys yet.
Our due date is Hallowe'en. How fun is that? I am going to try my best for the baby to come that day; Castor oil here I come!
Seriously though this pregnancy is so different from the first. I wasn't nearly as sick this time and I'm already in maternity clothes... it's embarrassing. I was able to wear my regular uniforms up until last day of work with Cali, but this time I have all ready grown out of them!
We are excited, and Cali is as excited as a two-year-old can be. She often reminds me that there is a baby in my tummy. I don't think she understands the ramifications of the "baby in Mommy's tummy", but come November it will be all too real for her!

Ultrasound
Ed and I went for our ultrasound yesterday. Once again we bought the overpriced 30 second video. So if you are interested here is it.
Butterfield Acres
The weather has finally improved here, so I decided it was time to get out of the house. Last week Cali and I took a trip to Butterfield Acres just outside Calgary. It's a little farm which has lots of baby animals for kids to see, pet, and feed. Cali had a great a time and talked about it for the remainder of the week. The best part of the trip was that Cali got to ride on the pony all by herself! I couldn't believe that she was big enough to do it. They have a little saddle and a small pony that walks around the ring very slowly. Cali held tight to the horn and she was good to go! Cali also fed the goats and took a ride on the hay wagon. All in all it was a great day and we were both wiped by the end. Needless to say we slept great that night! I posted a video of Cali feeding the goats and some picture of our day out.
