Stupid rain... all I want to do is plant a garden!!!! Anyway I just wanted to vent. Here is a great link for all you cheap Canadians:

what's up

Things have been a little crazy the past week. I started back to work last Monday. I am having a hard time juggling family life, work life and church life. Any advice? It's seems life is always some sort of balancing act. Anyway when I get a chance I will update again in more detail!

Ready To Start Gardening!

Despite the fact that we got a big dump of snow today in Strathmore I am excited for Spring!

I have begun choosing what to plant in my garden and I am making summer plans. I know that not much grows in Alberta but I am determined to find a few plants that do.

Cali is walking up a storm now and tried to run away from me today at church.

That's about it from here. I will try to update again soon!

Little Cali Baby Walking!

Cali took her first steps on Thursday night. That's right she was 9 1/2 months old, a litle early which surprising considering that she just began crawling at 9 months. She was standing beside the couch and decided to walk over to her baby piano. Ed and I were both there ready to catch her when she fell; she has attempted this same feat in the past with no success. To our surprise she made it!

Since then we have been trying to capture a few of her first steps on video. So far this is the best that we have. Please enjoy the pride of first time parents!

Just a little update!

I know that I have been pretty anti-social lately. First it's Christmas, then the New Year begins and things are mad trying to get back into routine.

Ed, Cali, and I all rung in the new year with nausea, vomiting, etc. Then we took turns with different viruses until just a week ago. I think that we are all better now but I'm not holding my breath. What really beat the bug was this Chinese medicine called "pee-pa-loo". It's amazing. Give a try the next time you get a cold.

In February we had a Japanese teacher, Asuna stay with us. It was so much fun! She and I went to Chinatown for the Chinese New Year, while Ed stayed home with Cali. That sounds strange doesn't it? We had a great time.

She taught me how to "nori-maki", (the sushi rolls). I couldn't believe how easy it was. I am going to start making them all the time for a treat. Having her stay with us was lovely, but it really kept be busy.

Home decor has also kept me busy. I painted the kitchen, living room, and hall in December with Dad's help. I love it! We are planning on finishing our basement this summer, so I have been working on layouts and colours for the rest of the house. Style at home magazine has been my constant companion as of late.

I still have the privilege of working with the 12-13 years old girls at church. That keeps me really busy, between visits to the new girls, Tuesday night activities, Sunday meetings and anything else that they throw at me. I love it though, those girls are great!

With spring approaching thoughts are turning to work. Ed and I decided that I could stay home an extra month, so I won't be returning until May. I stopped in at the hospital yesterday and it sounds like there will be a few spots opening the ER. I will only be working 2 days per week so I can spend as much time at home as possible. Our friend Danielle has offered to watch Cali while I am at work in the spring. As for the Fall I don't know what will do, if anyone is interested in watching baby Cali let me know.

Cali's birthday is ever drawing near, May 10th. She makes me laugh so much. She's crawling around and getting into everything, and giggling as she goes. She is able to stand on her own for short periods of time, so walking will be coming soon. She has four teeth; two on the bottom and two on top. She looks at me and babbles, but I don't have a clue what she is saying. Her trick is pointing, she loves to points at things!

Ed is ever enjoying teaching. Badminton has started again so we don't see him as much as we used to. He is planning on participating in the Strathmore badminton tournament in the April. He is still playing hockey Saturday nights, I guess it's over in two weeks for another year.

We are planning a summer trip out to Ontario in July to see Ed's family. I am looking forward to it. Also we are helping out with the Brogan family reunion August long weekend.

Now that the days are getting longer I hope to become more social and get together with a few of you soon!

I will leave you with a picture of my new and improved kitchen/living room colour. It used to be a dark burnt orange which didn't seem to work since the room was so small. I will continue to keep you all posted on my home improvements.

Take care!

Arrested Development

Has anyone seen this show? It freaking kills me!

I first heard of this show from my brother Steve who always seems to be stumbling upon TV greats, such as Father Ted and the IT Crowd. He told me about it months before I had seen an episode.

Two years ago, on an unfortunate weekend I got stuck with a bad case of food poisoning from Safeway... that's right Safeway I am blaming it on YOU and your fancy pants taste testers!!! Of course it was a weekend that I had off and Dallin H. Oaks was coming Calgary! To make the most of a bad weekend I asked Mom the rent me the first season. I must say I was throughly entertained.

Last week Dad helped me ravage through my brother's boxes and we were able to find season two. Through an interesting twist of luck (or unluck), I found myself again nauseated and vomiting laying on the couch (NOT pregnant). There was season two, to bring me comfort. Once again very entertaining.

The other day when I was out I saw season three for a VERY good price and picked up a copy. I have only just begun watching it but I have never laughed so hard at a TV show (okay... well maybe the IT crowd). I find in this season all the jokes are coming together.

I hope that when I watch the end of the series that I will feel that the show ended well. Otherwise I will be disappointed, I feel sad that such a great show was cut off so early. Does anyone know why it was canceled? It appeared to have won a bunch of awards as well. I will never understand why some shows survive and others die.

Just for giggles

Here is one of our favourite videos of our baby Cali. I wonder if Cali will fulfill my dream of becoming a highland dancer!
