Reception Chinese Style

Our reception lineup is now done! We went to Toronto to have our Chinese reception. It was wonderful! Meg became the new member of the Yu or "Yee" family. There were about a hundred people there and only about 10 white people...heh heh...Our Chinese relatives were so impressed with Meg and her Chinese. They really got a kick out of her speaking to them in Chinese. The food was so good! It was so good to see everyone who came! Thank you for coming! My great uncle gave us a great speech for us emphasizing the family unit as the fundamental unit of culture and development. Universal principles but the Chinese just have a way of saying it... :) So now we are relaxing and our honeymoon can start. We shall be back in Alberta soon and life will begin normally...More updates soon!

Welcome to the Yu family!!!

Yay!! We were sealed for time and all eternity in the Cardston Temple at 12:00 p.m. on Friday July 7th 2006. We watched the weather network closely for the last month and saw the thuderstorms and thundershower warnings take up the week. Even Thursday night threatened to have thunderstorms; there was hail in Calgary. But, Meaghann wasn't worried. She fasted for good weather and had perfect faith that the Lord would make it a good day. And He sure did! I feel so lucky to be married to this girl. She has so much faith. The temple experience was amazing! Meaghann told me when I got there that her veil flew out of the car. They didn't notice until they got to the temple that it was missing. It was a windy day but again, Meg's faith...undaunted. Meg's family saw it and brought it to the temple. Brother Pitcher was our sealer. Meg used to babysit his grandchildren so it was special to have him seal us. The blessing was wonderful and now we are happily married!!!! The photos went very well. Thank you Ryan Michelsen for being our photographer! There was one time during the shoot when Meg's veil flew off her head and landed perfectly on my head. I thought Meg put it on me. We had to laugh at that! The reception was wonderful!!!! Thank you so much for coming. Meg and I had a wonderful time talking to you. Meg and I changed into our Chinese outfits later to cut the cake. We had a Chinese groom and white bride. The bride was kind of pushing the groom over. That's not indicative of our relationship..lol...Meg tossed the bouquet...the first time, she just dropped it...the second time, Meagan caught it. The garter went to Aaron Nielsen. The Karaoke party was a hit! And so now we are married and more adventures to come!!!

Saskatoon!!!!

We went to Saskatoon to visit Jess and Mark at their wedding. I am sure that they were excited to see us. We stayed with Brother Watson. He's great; just as much energy as always and a witty comment to go with every conversation. It was a great time. Brother Watson will be coming to our wedding reception so for any of you Lethbridgers, come and visit; he sure would like to see you!!!

Meg's trip to the Temple

On Saturday, we went to the temple so that Meaghann could go through for the first time. It was a wonderful experience. This is one of the final steps to getting married. I am so excited. I was able to get my temple recommend today and so we are now just waiting for the marriage day. I can't wait to marry her and start our life together. Only 33 more days!!!!

The invitations story

Laura asked to update the story to talk about the invitations. It was a Monday I believe that I was going to go to Staples and get the invitations done. I had the corel draw file that was sent to me from Ryan, our photographer. After school, I rushed home so that I could get started and I found out that Staples was closed!!! They don't open late on Mondays. So I was a little discouraged and Meaghann offered to take the file to Staples for me. So she did and the file I think was corrupt so I think they used the pdf to photcopy the invitations. They looked terrible so they gave them to us for free. That's 300. The second round, Meg's dad helped us out with remodeling the invitation. It looked pretty good but the address seemed to be missing from the reception so that's another 300. When I saw them, they didn't look too bad but I knew they could look a little better. A little stressed about it, and Meg was stressed a little too, I decided to take the image and the proof to a placed called DigiPower in Okotoks. When I explained to them the situation, they were sympathetic and offered to help. The corel draw file was corrupt so they couldn't open it. They looked at the proof and offered to redo the whole thing. That was soooo nice!! They called me in a half hour and showed me a proof, in fact 4 of them on different paper. they all looked so good! but I did pick out the birch paper. They asked when I needed it and I said, "as soon as possible" It was about 4:00 at the time. They said come back in half hour. So I came back and they had them all shrink-wrapped and cut. They were so good to us!!! I'm grateful to them.. And the result is,....the invitations look beautiful...almost as beautiful as Meg... :)

We're gonna be Chinese!

Well, actually I'm already Chinese...all the way but we went to Chinatown and got real traditional wedding garb. It was really cool. Meg got this cool red wedding dress but the slit in the side is a little high...heh heh.. I also got a cool outfit. I get to wear a hat and I have a brown robe with a golden vest. Watch for it... Hopefully we'll see you at the reception!!

I am so in love with this girl, I bet it shows up in pictures!!

On Friday we went to the zoo to take engagement photos. I love spending time with Meaghann. She is so much fun...and beautiful. I can't wait to see the pictures. She's gorgeous. We spent about two hours taking pictures...and we wanted ice cream but nothing was open. It was a really warm day in long sleeves!! Meaghann is working so hard...I don't get to see her often...but I love the time that we are able to spend together. I...just love her!

Okay I bought the dress!

Mom and Dad were nice enough to buy me the dress of my dreams tonight. So don't worry about trying to find me a dress to borrow. Mom has made me promise to wear it the entire wedding day, in Winnipeg, Toronto, and Nova Scotia. How can I complain? I get to be a bride more than once this summer! Okay I am slowly getting excited about the wedding... but seriously I am WAY more excited about the marriage!

Wedding Dress Shopping

I went wedding dress shopping today and I couldn't find anything that I liked under $500. I even went to the fabric store to try to buy a pattern to make my own and there wasn't anything with modest sleeves. I tried calling a rental place but they don't rent dresses with sleeves! So if anyone knows of anyone who would be willing to lend me a wedding dress for a couple of hours on July 7th that would be lovely. Only criteria is that it needs to have sleeves. Thanks! Oh yeah I love Ed too!

Oh how I love this girl!!!

I got a call from Meaghann this morning. It was a nice surprise on the way to work. I love this girl so much!!!! I'm very lucky to be with her. I can't wait to satrt my life with her. Everytime I think about her, I get this incredible feeling. I know that we are meant for each other. She told me that she wasn't going to call me at work...and then she did! She's working a lot so I don't get to see her that often. I miss her lots... She is the girl of my dreams!!!!!!

Wedding Plans... all that you will want to know!

Being a woman I don't think that Ed included enough details about out wedding plans in the last entry. On Friday July 7th 2006 at 12 pm we are getting married for time and all eternity in the Cardston Alberta Temple. This ceremony will be very small so we are going make up for it by having an open house at my family's home in Okotoks that evening. I am thinking that it will start around 7pm but we haven't fully decided. So try to keep that date open. We are also having a Chinese reception in Toronto on July 15th. The best part is that I get to wear a Chinese wedding dress! I also hear the food is going to be great. Then after that we are going to be driving the rest of the way east to my homeland, Nova Scotia. There Ed will get to meet the rest of my family where we will most like have another party. Isn't getting married great? I LOVE TO PARTY! Then the rest of the summer will be spent on the beach soaking up the Maratime sun as newly weds.
