So this is my first contribution to the blog. Life has been very fast since we got married. Cali is well on her way to being two and I wonder where I was during all of this. Not that I've been absent, but little children grow up so fast; I can understand why some people say they miss it. Cali has been our entertainment over the last few years. She makes us laugh and makes us cry and sometimes both simultaneously. It certainly doesn't tickle when she opens our eyes while we are sleeping. :)
Cali does provide good entertainment from showing us new words to singing and taking care of her dolls so very well. She is very innovative, using baby facecloths as bedtime blankets for the two twin dolls in her care. She is quite the caretaker as well, willing to take the kleenex to unexplored regions up the dolls' nasal cavities. So needless to say, we haven't gone out for much entertainment; Cali provides quite a lot.
I'm continuing to teach all different subjects. I'm working on writing assessments that will be good indicators of progress so that will take a bit of time. It is sometimes depressing that the 4 or 5 hours I spend writing a good test, is written in 60 minutes and sometimes with little effort by the students. It makes me very relunctant to allow them to retest.
The basement has probably been a topic of discussion but we will leave that for another day...likewise for the basement...

Just a little update!
I know that I have been pretty anti-social lately. First it's Christmas, then the New Year begins and things are mad trying to get back into routine.
Ed, Cali, and I all rung in the new year with nausea, vomiting, etc. Then we took turns with different viruses until just a week ago. I think that we are all better now but I'm not holding my breath. What really beat the bug was this Chinese medicine called "pee-pa-loo". It's amazing. Give a try the next time you get a cold.
In February we had a Japanese teacher, Asuna stay with us. It was so much fun! She and I went to Chinatown for the Chinese New Year, while Ed stayed home with Cali. That sounds strange doesn't it? We had a great time.
She taught me how to "nori-maki", (the sushi rolls). I couldn't believe how easy it was. I am going to start making them all the time for a treat. Having her stay with us was lovely, but it really kept be busy.
Home decor has also kept me busy. I painted the kitchen, living room, and hall in December with Dad's help. I love it! We are planning on finishing our basement this summer, so I have been working on layouts and colours for the rest of the house. Style at home magazine has been my constant companion as of late.
I still have the privilege of working with the 12-13 years old girls at church. That keeps me really busy, between visits to the new girls, Tuesday night activities, Sunday meetings and anything else that they throw at me. I love it though, those girls are great!
With spring approaching thoughts are turning to work. Ed and I decided that I could stay home an extra month, so I won't be returning until May. I stopped in at the hospital yesterday and it sounds like there will be a few spots opening the ER. I will only be working 2 days per week so I can spend as much time at home as possible. Our friend Danielle has offered to watch Cali while I am at work in the spring. As for the Fall I don't know what will do, if anyone is interested in watching baby Cali let me know.
Cali's birthday is ever drawing near, May 10th. She makes me laugh so much. She's crawling around and getting into everything, and giggling as she goes. She is able to stand on her own for short periods of time, so walking will be coming soon. She has four teeth; two on the bottom and two on top. She looks at me and babbles, but I don't have a clue what she is saying. Her trick is pointing, she loves to points at things!
Ed is ever enjoying teaching. Badminton has started again so we don't see him as much as we used to. He is planning on participating in the Strathmore badminton tournament in the April. He is still playing hockey Saturday nights, I guess it's over in two weeks for another year.
We are planning a summer trip out to Ontario in July to see Ed's family. I am looking forward to it. Also we are helping out with the Brogan family reunion August long weekend.
Now that the days are getting longer I hope to become more social and get together with a few of you soon!
I will leave you with a picture of my new and improved kitchen/living room colour. It used to be a dark burnt orange which didn't seem to work since the room was so small. I will continue to keep you all posted on my home improvements.
Take care!

Our first entry

As most of you know Ed and I had another website before we were married. That was a lot of fun but as time passed and we got busy with other things and forgot the password. Therefore we haven't been able to update it at all. So we put our heads together and thought that maybe a blog would be a better choice for us.
Not too much has happened since the wedding in July. We are pretty much settled in Strathmore and don't plan on moving again for a very long time. I really like the country atmosphere and working at a small town hospital is a change that I like.
Ed of course is still teaching out in Hussar. He just loves it out there! I don't blame him, the more time that I spend out there the more I love it too! Everyone is so friendly and down to earth.
We are expecting a little bundle of joy in the middle of May. The official date we were given after our ultrasound was May 15th but we are both thinking that the baby will be late. No, we don't whether it is a boy or a girl. To us it didn't make any difference if we knew, so we are looking forward to the surprise on baby's birthday. Honestly I am more interested to know who the baby will look like!
Married life is great, like Ed and I keep saying "if we had known it was going to be this great we would have done it years ago". Ed is certainly a catch and anyone that knows him, knows that I am right.
I am taking my maternity leave in two weeks so I am sure that there will be plenty of postings to come!
