We need your input please!

Ed and I are thinking of naming our little girl Kaitlin Jane Yu. We would call her Katie for short. However it was brought to my attention last night that her intials would be KY. How much do you think that she will be teased? Is it worth it to start looking for another name? I want to hear your thoughts. Thanks!!!

  1. What's funny about KY? Isn't that Kentucky?

Anyways, Kaitlin? First of all, when she is a teenager she will be fancied by some guy named Joey Jeremiah. Plus the spelling... properly it's CaitlĂn, which is gaelic and it's pronounced kath-leen. In which case you should just call her Kathleen and she'll grow up to be cool like Grammie. Plus people can call her Kay, which is so retro and modern at the same time.

Other approved names are (reasons why):

Flora (there two famous women named Flora and they are both good role models)
Eilidh (Gaelic version of Helen, and 30 Helens agree...)
    Kenna (another common Gaelic name)
Kirsty (can't go wrong with this popular one)
Morag (Morag Smith from Smith and Smith Comedy hour = Awesome)
    Lydia (Lydias are always intelligent)
Eve (great short name which goes well with chinese surname)
Beth (never knew a bad Beth)
Florence (So dignified, except for that annoying woman who wasn't, but she's an exception)
    Beatrix (Posh, I like it)
Blanche (I think we'll all agree she was the most socially successful of the golden girls)
Claire (has her own very good song by the rheostatics)
Catriona (I used to fancy a girl by that name at the AC)

  2. Why don't you name her Caitlin? Then she'd have the same name without the KY problem.

  3. I have to ask....was it a guy who brought up the whole KY thing? In reality her intials are KJY and plus if people are really going to tease someone for their intials (or name for that matter) they will find a way to do it with any name. I like Kaitlin Jane. If you and Ed like it then that is all that matters.

  4. Sometimes you just think too hard just like your brother as his comment demonstrates. Kaitlin Jane Yu is a perfect name for another perfect granddaughter. Dad
